Rev. Rodney A. Teal, Esq., a multi-gifted member of the Body of Christ, has been intimately involved in ministry as a choir director, songwriter, praise & worship leader, author, teacher, and preacher for more than 20 years. Presently, he serves in a dual role at the Israel Baptist Church in Washington, DC, where he is the Assistant to the Pastor (Rev. Dr. Morris L. Shearin, Sr.) and the Minister of Music.
Rodney has earned a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) from VPI&SU (Virginia Tech), a Master of Business Administration from Radford University, a Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University, and a Master of Divinity from the Howard University School of Divinity. As a divinity school student, Rodney was a scholarship student, recognized for excellence in preaching, and selected to represent Howard University as the student speaker for graduation. His passion is preaching – from pulpit, choir stand, or lecture podium – trumpeting the Word of the Lord with power, clarity, and integrity.
Rev. Teal is frequently called upon to minister through preaching of the Word of God and sharing the songs of the Lord at workshops, conferences, and seminars across the United States. He has lectured at the Hampton Ministers’ Conference, Howard University School of Divinity, Baptist Ministers’ Conference City Wide Revival, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Recently, he was elected Secretary of Baptist Convention of the District of Columbia and Vicinity. Rev. Teal is also an active, committed member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), serving with distinction on the local and national levels and as a tenured faculty member in the Academic Division.
Rodney is married to Monica Adair Teal, who is also a licensed minister, and together they parent four wonderful children: Elizabeth, James, Ann Marie, and Michael. They reside in Alexandria, Virginia. He is a licensed attorney.
